ABOUT ME

Howdy, I am Valen Cepak

MY BACKGROUND

From running my own small business, serving on boards for local nonprofits, College Station ISD, the City of College Station, and Texas A&M University, standing up for what’s right, and chasing the American Dream, my past, present, and future have always centered on serving others.

My faith calls me to love my neighbor and be a light in the world. Serving on the City Council gives me the opportunity to live that out every single day. I love this community, and as your neighbor, I simply want to serve.

PROFESSIONAL JOURNEY

I’ve had the privilege of running two small businesses, a media company and a handyman service that employed 11 people. I’ve worked hands-on with emerging technology, including Amazon Prime Air drones and UAS systems at AgriLife, where I currently work.

I hold a Master’s degree from the Bush School of Government and Public Service, with a focus on local and state government, along with a graduate certificate in Homeland Security.

Throughout my career, I’ve intentionally immersed myself in a wide range of experiences: running social media for a small business, helping a friend open his barbershop, and engaging with people from all walks of life and every type of business. This broad exposure gives me a unique, practical perspective when making decisions on the City Council.

I may be young, but very few candidates bring the same diversity of real-world experience that I do.

MY MISSION

Faith | Service | Integrity

President George H.W. Bush famously said, “Public service is a noble calling.” What’s always struck me is that President Bush drew that line from 1 Timothy 3:1: “Here is a trustworthy saying: Whoever aspires to be an overseer desires a noble task.”

For me, this is more than just a quote. My faith has called me to serve others, and my entire life has been wrapped in that calling. My word means everything to me. In a world where a handshake means less and less, mine is binding. If I tell you I’m going to do something, you can expect it to get done.

I am an American, a Texan, and your neighbor, but most importantly, I am a disciple of Christ. His calling on my life has guided me to this point and will continue to guide me in the future. I take His command to love my neighbor seriously. It is my mission.

Paul’s letter to Timothy goes on to describe the standard for an overseer: to be above reproach, faithful, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, and not a lover of money.

These are the standards I hold myself to, and I invite you to hold me to them as well. I’m not perfect and I can be intense, but these are the metrics I strive for every day. I seek to serve out of deep respect for this community and with a firm belief that the next generation must step up and lead.
